Compared to other current testing methods, Colichrome™ MF ECC- A offers rapid testing with clear and easy-to-read results. This test medium differentiates Coliform bacteria from the non-coliform Aeromonas spp., so that false-positive readings due to Aeromonas spp. are eliminated.

  • Extremely accurate and easy to understand results
  • Results in 24 hours or less
  • Free technical support
  • 10 tests/bottle
  • E. coli appears as dark blue dots, Coliform appears pink/red dots, Aeromonas appears as yellow dots (Each “dot” represents one bacterial colony or “CFU”)

How It Works

Colichrome™ MF ECC-A Protocol as for other membrane filters (MF) media, following the standard methodology using a membrane filtration device

However, unlike other testing methods where results are difficult to read and understand, Colichrome™ MF ECC-A results are clear and precise. After incubating your sample for 24-48 hours at 35° C, any E. coli colonies will appear as dark blue dots. Other Coliforms (Enterobacter, Citrobacter and Klebsiella spp. & others) will appear as dark pink/red dots. Aeromonas will appear as pale yellow dots. The colonies may continue to grow in size and intensity up to 36-48 hours.

For more detailed instructions, please check out the PDFs below. Remember, we offer free technical support on any stage of the process and would be happy to instruct and advise you.

Additional Equipment Needed

Colichrome MF ECC-A is a membrane filtration medium that requires the standard equipment for any membrane filtration process. If you’re looking for a method of detecting Coliform, but do not have the standard equipment, you might be more interested in our self-contained R-CARD™ testing method that requires minimal additional equipment.
